from shoe store to art gallery
expo68 transformed a shoe store in the eastern hills mall into an art and design exhibition center.
building the dream
we see the past as a collaborator in the creative process. as we designed our gallery space we wanted to incorporate part of the original shoe store into the design. repurposing the original slat walls and resurfacing the shoe benches enhanced the minimal modern feel we desire.
expo 68 is primarily an exhibition center. whether it is original art work or our retail design shop, we want to elevate the works that each exhibitor has created with love. our art gallery aspires to reflect diversity in voices, mediums, and artistic disciplines. in addition to visual arts, we desire to find innovative works in the fields of music, dance, theater, written and spoken word.
expo 68 is committed to local designers and any other creative business that makes our community thrive. why travel to a major metropolitan city when we have so much talent here in our back yard. it is our dream to help a local designer launch a brand and build their headquarters in our hometown
tim brooks (founder) spent 25 years working for the global designer home brand umbra in product development. after working with all of the major big box chains as well as small independent stores, he left the company to start his own photography business before expo68. tim is also very involved with the local art community and has organized several art exhibitions.
